JUNEAU—The Dodge County Fair Association
is seeking ambitious, enthusiastic, and outgoing individuals
age 18 as of January 2009 to enter the 2009 Dodge County Fairest
of the Fair contest.
Scholarship money, gifts, self-confidence and improved communication
skills are some of the benefits of being named Fairest of the
Fair.
The 2009 Fairest of the Fair will represent the Dodge County
Fair Association in media and promotion events at the Dodge
County Fair, as well as other summer events. The winner will
serve as the 2009 Dodge County Fair hostess and plan the Fairest
of the Fair competition in 2010. The Fairest of the Fair will
have the opportunity to participate in the 2010 Wisconsin Fairest
of the Fairs contest.
The 2008 Dodge County Fairest of the Fair, Amanda Graff, is
a senior at UW-Madison majoring in Legal Studies and Social
Welfare with minors in Criminal Justice and Women's Studies.
"This has been an amazing experience," Graff said.
"After being involved in 4-H as a member for 10 years,
it is great to continue being a part of the fair and represent
Dodge County."
Graff attended the 2009 Wisconsin State Fairs Convention in
January.
"The convention was the best part of my winter break.
I learned a great deal about the Wisconsin Fair Association
and I met a group of terrific women during the convention, all
passionate about their local county and fair."
During her reign Graff took part in the Fair's futurity show,
presented ribbons at dairy judging, helped with the kiddy tractor
pull, participated in the cream puff eating contest, and announced
the Grandstand performers.
"I'm really looking forward to Farm Technology Days this
summer and the experiences I will gain promoting the 2009 Dodge
County Fair," she said.
All applicants for the Fairest of the Fair position will receive
gifts, interview experience and build self-confidence while
having fun. Applicants must be available for the Press Banquet
on July 13 and for the Dodge County Fair Aug. 19-23.
