Summer Jobs available at County Fair
The Dodge County Fair Association is seeking applicants age 16 and older for the position of Grounds Crew. Approximately 30 temporary positions need to be filled to work from August 6th thru the 24th for set-up, cleaning and tear down. Job tasks vary in difficulty; applicants must be able to lift a full bag/barrel of garbage and work well with others. Experience with cleaning, landscaping or farm work is a plus!
Please share this post with anyone who needs a summer job, the Fair needs at least 30 Grounds Crew members to make the event possible!
A lot of work goes in to getting everything in its place and ready for the big crowds at the county fair. Buildings need cleaning, signs posted, fence installed and garbage cans distributed just to name a few. The grounds crew works 8 am to 4:30 pm during the set-up and cleaning weeks. During the Fair, two shifts of crews attend from 6 am to 2:30 pm for first shift and second from 2:30 pm to 11 pm.
“Participating and contributing to the success of the Fair is very rewarding”, said Dale Norenberg one of the Grounds Crew Supervisors “Members of the crew learn teamwork and job skills valuable for future full-time positions”
During the Fair, from Wednesday, August 15th to Sunday, August 19th crews split into two shifts. First shift 6 am to 2:30 pm and second shift 2:30 pm to 11 pm. Crews work at a fast pace to keep the grounds looking good, garbage cans empty and supplies full.
After the Fair, everything is taken down, put away and cleaned up. Picking up garbage across the large 75-acre facility takes a lot of teamwork and dedication. Clean-up hours are normally 8 am to 4:30 pm.
