For many years, a large trivia-night fundraiser has been held by 4-H and FFA youth and parents to raise money for barn improvements at the Dodge County Fairgrounds, benefiting a variety of species and the community that comes to see them in August. This year, the sheep facilities need a little attention, and the 4-H and FFA Meat Animal Sale Committee is determined to make it happen.

Brush up on your favorite trivia subjects, assemble your team, and prepare to have some fun at the Meat Animal Sale Trivia Night, March 16, 2019. The trivia committee is accepting eight-person-team registrations for the fundraiser at $10 per person or $80 per team. “We’re stepping up the game this year with a few rounds where we have only pictures and no questions,” noted Eric Salmi, trivia-night chairperson. “We’re also bringing back audio rounds with 8-15-second clips of a song from which teams need to name the title and artist.”

Trivia night will take place at Dodgeland High School, Juneau. Doors open at 5 p.m. on the 16th, and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Entrance into the event is free, and the committee has other opportunities for you to support the cause besides trivia. “We’ll have a 50/50 raffle and bucket raffles, again: $1 per ticket, six tickets for $5, and $20 for an arm span of tickets,” added Salmi. There will also be food catered by Turner Hall in Watertown until it’s gone.

In addition, the committee is selling short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and polar mugs to help raise money. “The cost of each t-shirt is $15 for sizes youth through XL. If you need a 2XL or larger, the cost is $20. The long-sleeve shirts are selling for $20 (all sizes), and the nice 20-ounce polar mugs are $25.”

“Silent-auction items and bucket-raffle items will include numerous gift certificates, clothes, oil changes, wine baskets, homemade blankets, a rustic handmade wooden American flag, a large remote-control racing car, and much more.”

In addition to new sheep pens, proceeds from the trivia-night fundraiser will help with barn ventilation improvements and will establish a fund to rent a state-approved weigh-in scale every year for the Dodge County Fair.
